Facial Recognition is Key Biometric Authentication Solution for Smartphones
In a recent report published by Strategy Analytics, four major biometric authentication solutions are forecasted to grow in importance, especially in smartphones. Previous authentication methods included passwords, pins and pattern-swipes.
Biometrics offer increased smartphone security. Currently, fingerprint authentication is present in more than half of all smartphones, making it the most common. Facial recognition is the second most common, followed by voice and eye authentication. Technologies ranging from iris and scleral authentication to 2D and 3D facial recognition are among future biometric authentication solutions.
